Spirit of Prophecy
Finding Ellen White’s Relevance for the New Millennium
Join Cindy Tutsch and her colleagues from the Ellen G. White Estate, Andrews University Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, and Southwestern Adventist University as they provide information about Ellen White, her purpose, authority, and relevance.
By the end of this 13-module course you will have a biblical basis for confidence in Ellen White’s writings, better understand the nature of inspiration, be equipped to provide answers to objections to Ellen White’s prophetic ministry, understand the cultural milieu from which she wrote and become a better-informed agent to pass on that understanding to others. After watching video instruction, completing the learning activities and additional readings, and completing the module quizzes, you will earn 2.0 continuing education units.
The purpose of this course is to give you the tools necessary to teach students and congregations about Ellen White, building confidence in her prophetic ministry as an agency leading to Jesus and His Word. Working at your own pace, you will watch and listen to varied instructors speak on subjects often requested by pastors and teachers, with the option of re-visiting content presented to retrieve useful information for your unique ministry. For each module, you will read a short chapter from The Gift of Prophecy: The Role of Ellen White in God’s Remnant Church, by Gerhard Pfandl. A simple learning assessment will conclude each module.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
1. Identify Ellen White’s contributions to the Seventh-day Adventist church.
2. Discover how to find relevant principles in Ellen White’s writings for 21st century challenges.
3. Answer objections to Ellen White’s authenticity as a messenger of the Lord.
4. Be aware of Adventist historical sites related to Ellen White in the NAD.
